The Thirteenth Knell

The Thirteenth Knell

The bells of the clock-tower stop at twelve.
There is no thirteenth chime.
Yet once in each lifetime you must delve
In the silence, a millisecond of time,
‘Twixt the last stroke of midnight and ante meridiem,
12:00:01 a.m., the moment where all chaos dwells.
The music of your own final requiem
Is the hymn of the thirteenth knell.
