Faeries Among Us!

Just before dawn, a walk in the woods.

My senses are heightened, if only I could

Watch the wee faeries skip from tree to tree.

In the cloudy mist, I can almost see

Sparkling colors dancing in the sky.

But it fades away when I blink my eyes.

Just a trick of the light with the coming dawn.

There are no glowing pathways through the fog.

But do I hear a tiny giggle or is it the wind?

I can’t hear when it ends or where it begins.

Just the echo of a whisper from a dream

Or the laughter of a gurgling stream.

Small birds and animals are chirping and chattering.

Why does it sound like ethereal voices singing?

Just a glimpse of color, a hint of a song.

Then the sun rises and I had it all wrong.

There are no faeries; the laughter is gone.

Angel
Faeries dwell among us!

  1. Debbie,
I realised something- I had never followed you- though you are my friend- I apologize to you and have followed.
I like this poem-in fact, I love it. It is nice to imagine what somethings can mean or look like- do you really believe in fairies ?

    1. Thanks for the follow. I have been following you for a while. Yes, I consider you a friend. I want to watch you grow and blossom as a writer and a person.I am very whimsical and childlike, and I want so much to believe in faeries. I definitely believe in the afterlife. I have always been always shall be.Thanks again for your enthusiasm.

    1. I had to click on the link wondering, “Did I write that?” Aye, says wee Annie, back in 2016. I had forgotten about it, as I always do, writing in the moment and keeping it here on the blog; then never looking at it. I did put together a book of my blog poetry with an original song I wrote, a short story or two, an excerpt from one of my books, and a Creative Visualization Meditation. It’s called Quill and Ink. I’ll send you a Kindle copy, my dear Fairy Whisperer.
