The 12 chimes of midnight and the ticking clock

Had slowly faded into silence.

The clock, the chimes, had been her rock

As she sought reality with reticence.

Denny still heard the echo in her mind

And clung to the chimes as they had been.

She wasn’t sure what she would find

When the dreams began again.
